Finer Things Friday AND Works for Me Wednesday: A Website Full of Sparkle!

Every now and then I happen upon a website that proves a wealth of information and resources.  SparkleBox is one such website.  SparkleBox was launched in 2006 as a resource for teachers in the UK, and beyond, the website says.  All of the resources are FREE, although a few do require you to download a toolbar (also FREE!) to access them.  I’ve used the toolbar for about a year now with no negative consequences, so I am comfortable passing this site on to you as a FANTASTIC resource for all sorts of activities for young children.  It’s loaded with numeracy activities such as these counting playdough mats:

(which we turned into a fun gift for a favorite preschooler by laminating the cards and attaching a playdough recipe):

and literacy activities such as these which I’ve turned into some great file folder games:

and file upon file of other resources.  I’m downloading the high frequency word wall next:  100 “bricks” each with a different high frequency word.  “Building” a brick wall in our family room together with my beginning reader this Spring is sure to be a finer thing!

If you have older elementary children, never fear!  SparkleBox has a site for you, too.  For activities for older children, check out SparkleBox KS2.

Finding a website with great ideas that saves me tons of time…
Now that’s a Finer Thing that Works for Me!
