Making Memories Monday: A Camping We Will Go

Tin foil dinners cooked in the open fire, s’mores, skits and songs, sleeping under the stars… well, in tents, but after saying goodnight to a sky filled with stars….  I have such fond memories of camping with the Girl Scouts… and my Mom, who was my Girl Scout leader all the way through Scouts.

And somewhere, I know I have many,
many photos of my Scout-camping days,
but tonight, this is the only one I can find!
Camping circa 1979 or 1980

This weekend my boys went camping with the Cub Scouts, Daddy… and Grandma!  They had the opportunity to experience first-hand the fun times they have heard so much about from my memories of Scout camping:

Spending time with friends:

Sleeping in tents:

Fishing…

even if all they catch is a little brown leaf…

Campfire skits…

“May I use the computer?”
“Sure, but you have to log in.”
————————
“What’s that?”
“I brought my LOG in!”

Hee-hee-hee.  Scout humor!

Flag Ceremonies…

Enjoying the time out-of-doors:  hiking, fishing, and finding all sorts of WILD creatures…

and coming home to a warm bath!

The boys had a great time this weekend.  They walked in the door talking a mile a minute about what they did and who they did it with!  Hearing them talk, I couldn’t help but think about my camping days, and wish that I had been in the woods, pitching that tent with them.
Well, fortunately, I’ll have my chance to join them on a camping trip soon enough!  In just four weeks, we’re heading to a Boys Scout 100th Anniversary Camp-o-Ree Celebration.  I can’t wait!
