Today while on our Volksmarch, we stopped in several fun stores in Old Town Alexandria, including a candy story that sold 18 inch long gummy snakes (Mom said no, but Dad said yes) and an Irish wares store. Connor and I quickly exited the Irish shop. It was small and crowded, and I had visions of glass ware, figurines, and all manner of costly items falling off shelves around our little whirling dervish. Patrick and Ryan stayed, browsing in the store and searching for the McQuillan and O’Brien names on the heritage map. When they rejoined us outside, Patrick relayed that Ryan was quite impressed by the number of drinking glasses displayed in one case in the store, so much so that he commented, “Wow, they must drink a LOT there!” Out of the mouths of babes, Irish babes that is.
