The First Snow

We were awakened today by shouts of, “It’s snowing!, It’s snowing!” as two little boys ran into our room and jumped excitedly onto our bed. Amidst giggles, Ryan and Connor rambled on and on about snowballs and snowmen… It’s days like today that I am reminded that my boys are Florida-born and bred. There wasn’t enough snow on the ground to make a snowball, and they were ready to don snowsuits and build a snowman. Fortunately for them, by the time we picked Connor up from preschool, enough snow had fallen to actually make a snowball – as Ryan proved by tossing one that hit in just the right place to slide down my neck and back – brrrr. The boys had a blast playing in the snow in Pine Needle Park, the name they have given to the large pine tree next to our home, and are anxiously awaiting the next big blizzard (anything over an inch) to hit Northern Virginia!
