Finding Missy
For some time now, we have known that Connor, whose name means “lover of hounds,” is truly a boy in need of a dog, so we weren’t surprised when he announced that he wanted a dog for his fifth birthday. Since his announcement at Christmas, Connor has talked daily about his dog, Missy, who will have a pink collar and a pink dog bed. In fact, he talked so much about “my Missy,” that we actually began looking on-line at dogs available at local shelters, anticipating that it would take some time to find Missy. Today we went to visit one of those shelters where we met not Missy, but Leya. We hadn’t spent five minutes with Leya, a six-year-old lab/shepherd mix, before Connor announced, “We found our dog for our family!” And so, next weekend Leya will join our family, a full seven months before Connor’s birthday!
