What We Love: Days Spent with Friends

Last night’s storm did indeed cool things off a bit, and today was a lovely day with bright skies and a warm breeze. We decided to take advantage of the break in the heat to visit nearby Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, a beautiful 95-acre garden paradise.

We first visited Meadowlark with a homeschool co-op last Fall. At that time, Ryan was so taken with the gardens, that he said he planned to visit every week to see how the plants changed with the seasons! We opted to try for once a season, and although we didn’t get back in the heart of winter, we did spend a blustery day at Meadowlark on the last official day of Winter this past March. Although Winter still retained a tight hold on the gardens, we did see a few brave blooms beginning to emerge at that time.

Today, there was an abundance of flowers in bloom. The colors were absolutely stunning: the bright pinks, vivid oranges, sunny yellows, clear blues… all on a brilliant green backdrop created by the perfectly maintained lawns and the now dense woods.

We strolled, hiked, admired, and praised, all while spending time with our good friends: Katherine, Don, and Emma Grace. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

The boys were quite taken with the young Canada geese.
When they ran after the geese, the “Mommies and Daddies” swam away,
but the babies turned right back around and chased the boys.
