The boys have been hoping and wishing and yes, even praying, for snow since the leaves started to fall from the trees back in October. After at least three “false alarms” from the weathermen, this morning, finally, they awoke to a winter wonderland – Northern Virginia style. Which is to say, they awoke to about an inch of soft, powdery snow with beautiful large flakes still falling. Their shouts of excitement were surely heard miles away. They managed to hold off heading outside just long enough to help cook and eat a “giant pancake” breakfast; after all, active snow play requires a lot of energy.
