Birds of a Feather

Our backyard bird feeder has been a flurry of activity since the “big snow” yesterday.

We have enjoyed watching the visitors. Today, we identified a pair of Cardinals, numerous Slate-colored Junkos, an adorable Tufted Titmouse, Chickadees, a Song Sparrow, a Carolina Wren, a Downy Woodpecker, several Blue Jays, and even a Robin (not at the feeder, but hopping about in the yard). We also spotted a red-tailed hawk flying up above. The many squirrels that usually chatter away on our fence top, however, have been mysteriously absent, likely hiding out in their dreys or hollowed out trees until the snow melts a bit.
