Homeschool Classroom: When God Pitches a Curve Ball, Pray, Then Swing!

Tuesday morning, math time.  The phone rings.  I ignore it.  It rings again, and again, and again.  I give in, and run to answer it, leaving the boys working on multi-digit multiplication and addition with carrying.

It’s my mom.  “Your father can’t go.  His doctors have said no traveling.”    My parents had been planning to drive from New Jersey to Louisiana to participate in a week-long Katrina-rebuilding mission project.  They’ve been doing this twice a year for years, and I knew mom was disappointed by this change in plans.  I was not,  however,  prepared for what came next.
“Do you want to go with me?”  What?  Me?

I’m over at The Homeschool Classroom today.  Join me there for my post:  When God Pitches a Curve Ball, Pray, Then Swing!, a look at how I ended up spending an unplanned week with my mom and a group of folks from New Jersey rebuilding homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  S-wing, Batter, Batter.  S-wing!
