Monitoring Your Children’s Computer Use: LanSchool Technologies

My boys LOVE to spend time on the computer.  At seven and nine, their mobility on-line is, however, severely restricted and constantly monitored.  There are a handful of websites they may visit, and many that are off-limits.  For the most part, they are good about visiting only the approved websites, but not always.  There is one website in particular that they LOVE, and I DON’T.  Every now and then, I’ll walk out of the family room, where the boys’ computer is set up, and return to find them quickly minimizing the forbidden website.
Enter LanSchool Technologies.  LanSchool v7.5 enables parents to limit or block internet access to particular websites, among a host of other things, including:  allowing a parent to “see” their child’s computer monitor from a remote computer; enabling a parent to black out a child’s computer monitor screen to get their attention; and making it possible for parents to send their child messages, make corrections, highlight points of interest, and develop quick quizzes on the the child’s computer screen from their computer; and much more.  Visit the LanSchool website to see just HOW MUCH this program can do, as we only scratched the surface of its capabilities during our trial period!
LanSchool v7.5 makes it easier for the homeschooling parent to monitor, assist, and teach when using on-line or computer-based instruction and/or assignments.  It works on PCs, MACs, Thin Clients, iPads, iPods, and iPhones.  The LanSchool v7.5 homeschool option includes a perpetual license with  three years of updates and service.  It can be run on up to three home computers at one time.  For  large families with more than three home computers, a three-year 10-computer license is available for $299.00.  At least two networked computers are required to run the software:  one set up as a student base and one as a teacher console.
The good folks at LanSchool Technologies have outdone themselves when it comes to customer support and tutorials.  There are twenty free tutorials available on their website.  Support of a more individual nature is also available by calling them:   877-370-5546 or by emailing: support@lanschool.com.
Our boys are young and still require a great deal of one-on-one assistance when completing their schoolwork.  They do very little of their homeschool work on the computer, and when they do, I am sitting with them, assisting and encouraging; I am not working on my computer in another room – although I anticipate that day will come soon enough.  At this time in our home, we found LanSchool v7.5 to be an easy-to-use monitor of our sons’ computer use and their trustworthiness regarding the websites they were visiting.  For families of older students, and especially in large families with older children, however, I believe LanSchool v7.5 will certainly make keeping up with students’ on-line and computer-based work far easier and more efficient for the homeschool teacher.  It is a multi-faceted program offered at an extremely reasonable price.  Check it out for yourself!
