The boys are still with their Grandparents this week. I have talked with them each day by phone and they are having a great time: trips to the lake, bowling, dessert every night…
Yesterday, Connor told me that Grandma makes “the best chicken ever!” “It’s crispy and tastes like french fries,” he said. When I asked my Mom about her terrific chicken… she said ,”What chicken?”.. Turns out the worlds-best-chicken is actually the other white meat: (pork chop): reheated in a microwave. Well, who knew that was all it takes to please my pickiest eater!
Ryan sneaked in a bit of extra television time last night. Grandma heard the television on and headed downstairs to give Grandpa a talking to, thinking he was watching television while Ryan was sleeping on the couch. Low and behold, it wasn’t Grandpa, it was Ryan. His television show of choice: a documentary on the Terra Cotta Warriors. Now, how do you tell a 9-year-old to turn that off and go to sleep? Grandma said she couldn’t. He watched the DVD to the end.
Wednesday, I’m heading up to New Jersey to pick up the little guys. I’m not sure they’re going to want to come home? Next week starts school, running, AWANA, speech, Cub Scouts, Classical Conversations, and violin. Whew, I’m already tired – maybe I won’t come home!
