For years, the boys have been asking to have their birthday parties at the pool. Problem is: Ryan’s birthday is the month before the pool opens, Connor’s birthday is the month after the pool closes, and in-door pool parties are just too expensive. So, what to do?
Well, we put our heads together, brainstormed ideas, and this year, came up with a solution. We decided to celebrate their birthdays together, at the pool, half-way between their actual birthdays.
Camps and family travel plans pushed the date a little closer to Connor’s birthday than Ryan’s, but yesterday, we celebrated Ryan’s 9th birthday (which was in April) and Connor’s seventh birthday (which will be in October) with a handful of friends at our neighborhood pool.
We cheered on the kids in a frozen t-shirt relay:
Tried to stay out of the splash zone during the wet sponge relay:
And headed for cover when the thunder rolled and the rain poured down:
We served cake in the pool bathhouse:
And sent our friends home with goody bags including bubbles, Silly Bandz, foamy capsules that grow in water, and a squirt gun with a tag reading: I had a blast at Ryan & Connor’s birthday bash!
Even with the sudden end to the poolside fun, the party was a blast! The boys had fun, they ate cake, and they spent time with their friends… at the pool, crowded in the pool bathhouse, and later on at Chuck E. Cheese’s (an impromptu end to the chaotic day)!
A day spent with good friends celebrating our favorite little guys…
It’s a Finer Thing… even when the rains fall!
