Works for Me Wednesday: Travel Bin of Changes and Extras

It never failed.  The day my kids found the park flooded, I didn’t have a change of clothes; the day Connor cut his foot, I didn’t have a first aid kit; and the day, the boys were freezing after playing in the creek, I didn’t have a blanket… or even a towel.
UNTIL…
Photo coming!
I stocked our Travel Bin, a clear plastic bin filled with changes and extras:  a change of clothing for each of the boys, including underwear, socks, and even shoes; plastic bags for wet or soiled clothes; a towel to dry off wet children or brush off muddy feet; a blanket and a sweatshirt for that unexpected chill; a first aid kit for scrapes, cuts, and bruises; sun screen and bug spray; and sometimes even a sand pail and shovel, a container of bubbles, or a ball, something to occupy the boys when a playdate is not going exactly as planned or the wait for big brother to finish his activity is longer than expected.
Our Travel Bin has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion.  Its size has increased as we’ve thought of more and more things to include, but its usefulness far outweighs the inconvenience of the space it takes up in the back of our minivan.
Not having to worry when the boys find an unanticipated mudhole, puddle, or creek…
