I did it! I logged on to type my Gratituesday post, but before I did, I happened to read Amy’s Gratituesday post and I knew it was written to encourage me, to speak to my heart, to move me into action… and it did! Perhaps her post was not written only for me, but her words were enough to spur me into action.
And so, today, rather than what I had intended to exhort in tongue and cheek thankfulness, I will instead give thanks for the newest addition to our family, our fourth
World Vision sponsored child: Martin in Chile!
Following Amy’s lead, we are sponsoring Martin in honor of my brother, James, who passed away unexpectedly last May. Martin was born on July 30, 2009, which would have been James’ 34th birthday, and we are truly blessed to welcome him into our family. Sponsoring Martin will be a stretch for us financially, but we are putting our trust in the Lord to provide for us and to enable us to provide for Martin, as well as our other three sponsored children:
Soorya in Sri Lanka, Henry in Honduras, and Denis in Kenya.
From now on, July 30, will be a day to give praise to our Lord God for leading us through our tears to this precious child so that we might turn our sorrow into joy over the difference we are able to make in the life of one of His little lambs! God bless Martin!
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something ot drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Then the righteous will answer him,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a strnger and invite you in,
or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply,
‘I tell you the truth,
whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.’
