Just over three years ago, I started a blog. A dear friend convinced me blogging would be a good outlet for my writing, a fun way to record our family’s comings and goings, and a new way to keep in touch with friends and family living far away. I picked a name for the blog, selected a pre-designed template from blogspot.com, and started posting. It was easy.
There was only one problem: every time I opened our blog, I pictured something different, something I didn’t have the knowledge or skill to create, and I found that extremely frustrating. I searched on-line for new templates, and even tried a couple, but each time there was something that was still not quite right. And so, for Christmas this year, I asked for a blog redesign.
Now, who to have design my blog? Without much deliberation, I decided on Char of Delight Designs. I’d never met Char, but I knew I liked her work, and even more, that I liked her, before I ever contacted her. Char’s name had come up as a blog designer and friend on two of my favorite blogs: Heavenly Homemakers and The Nanahood… and so to me, she was the obvious choice… and I can’t tell you how thankful I am that she was.
After several consultations via e-mail, Char put my ideas, every last one of them, into computer code! I couldn’t believe how perfect her design was! Each time I open our blog now, I just LOVE the way it looks. It may sound like a small thing, but sometimes, it’s the small things that add a little sunshine to a dreary day or bring a smile amidst a string of worries and frowns; sometimes, it’s the small things that make the biggest difference!
And so tonight, I wanted to share how thankful I am for Char… a fabulous designer, a lovely person, and someone I am happy to now count among my friends… and for her wonderful design for my blog, a design that brings a smile to my face each and every time I look at it!
Be sure to take a look at our new blog design if you read these posts via e-mail. And if you’re in the market for a blog re-design, holiday cards, or photo announcements, be sure to check out Char’s Etsy store! I know you’ll love her work!
What are you thankful for this Gratituesday?
