Gratituesday: Until Death Do Us Part
The order varies for any given year.
~Paul Sweeney
In an age where the vow “to have and to hold from this day forward… until death do us part” holds less and less meaning, I am grateful for the example of my parents, who yesterday celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
Now, within these many years, there has been much joy, celebration and love, but my parents have certainly had their fair share of disagreements, disappointments, and heartache as well. Through it all, however, they have remained true to one another. They have honored their wedding vows, respected one another, and above all, demonstrated that while marriage seldom mimics a fairy tale, it is worth working for and holding on to.
From my parents, I learned that running away is seldom the way to work through life’s difficult moments, and for that I am also grateful, because tomorrow, I will celebrate fourteen years of marriage to my dear husband…
… and I can’t imagine sharing the better or the worse with anyone else.
May you enjoy many more years of happiness together.
You truly set a lovely example of the give and
take required in marriage each and every day,
and for that I am grateful.
Happy Anniversary, Patrick, the love of my life!
For you, my dear, I am grateful.
