What We Love: Our Pops
Patrick, in particular, enjoyed the opportunity to revisit Perona Farms. He remembers vividly being called away from the table frequently for photos at our reception, and each time returning to his seat to find that the extremely attentive and efficient servers had cleared his place. The lobster, the salad, the salmon… all of it swept briskly from his place before he could fully enjoy his meal. Of course, the fact that Patrick can take hours to eat a meal might have had something to do with this, but he doesn’t think so.
This Father’s Day, Patrick, the boys, Mom and Dad S., and my niece, Sarah all enjoyed a leisurely meal of smoked salmon, oysters, clams, shrimp, soups, salads, freshly prepared Belgian waffles, and many, many other delicious items prepared by the world-class chef at Perona Farms. Today, we made sure no one cleared Patrick’s plate until he was finished; although he was still eating as the rest of us were standing up to leave – after almost two and a half hours!
Ryan’s favorite menu item: “my big apple,” swiped from the revolving fruit table decorated by a swan ice sculpture; the planning and procurement of the “apple on the move” adding immensely to the flavor.
Connor’s favorite menu item: the freshly made donuts; donuts that Connor himself sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar while still hot – again, the fun of the preparation making the eating that much more enjoyable.
At the conclusion of our meal, the boys presented their Pop and their Grand-Pop with Pop-up cards and an assortment of Pop-o-licious gifts: Pop-tarts, Pop-corn, and Tootsie-roll Pops! Unfortunately, Connor’s God-Pop and Sarah’s Pop, Uncle Jim, was feeling under the weather and was unable to join us.
