An Engineer’s Dream
Today we made our annual holiday pilgrimage to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum (in Baltimore). Last year, shortly before Christmas, we made our first trip to this wonderful museum and had to carry Connor out kicking and crying at closing! We have been back several times since, but our holiday trips seem to retain something magical. Maybe it’s the wreaths on the fronts of the big metal trains, or the large holiday displays of model railroads by the local railroading clubs, or perhaps it’s the Christmas carols piped in during the 2-mile train ride (a mile out and back; the first mile of track laid in the United States), but in any case it made for a day of magical fun, especially for our youngest who has declared the B&O his “favorite place in the world!” Incidentally, this year Connor walked out at closing with only a brief cry and a couple of stomps; progress?!
